Education
Our first contact with the education system in Nepal took place in a time that people changed their mind about girls going to school. In the past an intelligent girl was seen as a bad wedding partner (she would be too independent), but now the idea is that she will be an interesting wedding partner. The demand for help from the population concerned building schools and sponsoring teachers salaries. The schools that already existed had many, many children, sometimes about hundred in a class and the age variation within the same class was high. The older students in a class came from far, because before they were too young to walk that distance. For this reason we have build several primary schools (class 1-5). We build also several schools up to grade 12. In 2017 we build our 18th school. In the past a school had to function five years before the government would pay the salary of a teacher. So we paid also several teachers’ salaries. In the mean time education support was also given in other ways, but this you can see in the education related subjects.
